Kosterina's Journey: Sharing Authentic Greek Olive Oil

In 2016, Katerina Mountanos founded Kosterina with a simple goal: to share authentic Greek olive oil beyond the Mediterranean region. Recognizing that nearly 70% of olive oil sold in the US as authentic EVOO did not meet official extra virgin standards, Katerina teamed up with farmers in the Peloponnese region of Greece to begin the meticulous process of producing early-harvest, cold-pressed EVOO.

Olive oil runs through our veins. Our oil comes from olives that are harvested early and cold-pressed in small batches to maximize flavor and nutritional value. It is always processed from this year's harvest to ensure optimal freshness and quality. Kosterina extra virgin olive oil has the earthy and peppery taste that accompanies pure extra virgin olive oil, combining well with our variety of flavorful balsamic vinegars to add a tangy kick to any sweet or savory dish.

Kosterina's authentic extra virgin olive oil is a superfood, with 8 to 10x the free-radical-fighting properties of traditional store-bought oils and is full of antioxidants that promote overall health and well-being. Katerina Mountanos and her husband Kostas began Kosterina in 2017 in an effort to extend the flavor of authentic extra virgin olive oil from her home in Southern Greece to the US—and beyond.

The smooth taste of our extra virgin olive oil adds a robust richness to a variety of dishes, making it versatile for any recipe. Greece is home to one of five Blue Zones around the world, regions with populations that hold much higher life expectancy than most other regions, and with fewer diseases. Their longevity is attributed to physical activity, a plant-based diet, and yes, lots of EVOO!

Kosterina offers a range of products, including our Original Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Everyday Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Garlic Olive Oil, Original Balsamic Vinegar, and Spicy Olive Oil. We also have an Extra Virgin Hydrating Face Oil that promotes youthful skin.

All of our single origin extra virgin olive oils are made from 100% Koroneiki olives harvested in southern Greece. Kosterina only offers olive oil with ultra high polyphenol content, as our early harvests have higher levels of this powerful, naturally occurring antioxidant. Our small batch, hand-harvested Koroneiki olives ensure a craft olive oil experience from the moment they're pulled from the tree. All of our extra virgin olive oils are gluten free, vegetarian, lactose free, GMO-free, and vegan.
